Ernie Zelaya Sent Down for Weed Bust
Justice was swift this morning for a father of three in the lower court. Ernie Zelaya was fined ten thousand dollars and sentenced to three years behind bars for the offense of drug trafficking when he appeared in the court room of Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser. On Friday evening, in Hattieville, police made the bust of twenty-three kilograms of cannabis hidden inside a vehicle Zelaya was driving. After three nights in lock down at the Queen Street Police Station, this morning, Zelaya who was unrepresented, wasted no time and took the wrap for the hefty amount of cannabis. But unfortunately for the father, who claimed he was set up to be a mule, there was no recourse. And after pleading guilty to drug trafficking, Zelaya threw himself to the mercy of the court and begged for leniency, saying he works as a taxi man and if he did not transport the drugs, he would have been killed. Zelaya admitted he had the weed in the trunk of his car which was retrieved by the cops. The first time offender has until October thirty-first to pay the fine and if he defaults, three years will be added to his prison term.

A murderer walks free and someone with a lee bit a herb gets locked up. I’m ashamed to call this backwards country home sometimes.
