U.D.P. Sets Municipal Conventions for August
Municipal elections are set for March seventh, 2018. There are nine municipalities and a whopping sixty-seven seats to fill; eleven in both Belize City and Belmopan. The U.D.P. is in a feverish pitch to have applications submitted to meet its party deadlines in the municipalities they control. Today was the deadline for applications for the Capital, while here in the city, the deadline is on July fourteenth. According to Party Chairman Alberto August, the U.D.P. currently has sixty-two of those seats after they lost five in Orange Walk back in 2015.

“So far we have finalized both dates—deadlines and convention dates—for eight of the nine municipalities countrywide; we are only waiting on Benque right now. The Guardian has a full page ad in terms of all the schedules for the conduct for deadline for the submission of applications and for the conduct of conventions. For example today, about one and a half hours from now, the deadline for the submission of applications for the Belmopan City Council will be due. And then they are having their convention on the thirteenth of August. So normally what we do is from the deadline of the submission of application to convention date, we normally give them six weeks. So like for example today is Belmopan, then we do a vetting to check those persons who submit their applications…we check that for two weeks and then we give them one month to conduct their campaign for the convention.”

“We understand that one slate has already been filled in terms of San Pedro….”
Alberto August
“San Pedro is completed. San Pedro is always ahead of the game and we must congratulate Minister Heredia and the mayor of San Pedro; they have already done their convention, they are already campaigning; they are set to go. But our conventions begin on the thirteenth of August in Belmopan and then we are going to have the twentieth, the twenty-seventh and right down.”
I’ll be waiting for you fools to step on my door step to tell you in you face “for God sake stop it man, too much corruption too much atrocities done by some ministers that really if the Pm was really about clear and transparency would have had the balls to fire them and done but he cherish every wrong doing in front of our faces with a slap in the and of these scums.
