Travel Visa-Free to Taiwan
According to Taiwan News, a media outlet in Taiwan, citizens from a number of Caribbean countries, including Belize, are now able to enjoy visa-free travel to Taiwan. It is reported that Taiwan made the decision to ease restrictions to “demonstrate the closeness” between it and its “diplomatic allies” in the region. As a result of this visa waiver, residents of Belize, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines can now visit for up to thirty days, while four other countries in the region have restrictions eased to ninety-day visa-free visits. In a statement from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision is described as (Quote) “acting upon the principles of mutual benefit and reciprocity.” (Unquote) In order to qualify for the visa waiver, the visitors need to show a passport that valid for at least six months, along with return travel ticket and must not have a criminal record. This comes into effect immediately.
