G.S.U. menace Keith Yearwood, younger brother of Police Inspector
The Gang Suppression Unit is under fire once again, this time for allegedly beating up the younger brother of well-known Police Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood. On Thursday night, G.S.U. personnel on mobile patrol in the vicinity of Tow Tow Grocery Store closed in on Keith Yearwood who was on his way to the shop along with his teenage daughter. They were pulled over by two teams of officers who reportedly yanked him out of his vehicle at gunpoint. It is alleged that the policemen then proceeded to administer a sound beating on Yearwood in the presence of his children and other onlookers. According to the cabdriver, the officers were brandishing weapons and even pointed a firearm at his fifteen-year-old daughter who was a passenger in his vehicle. The vicious beat down, says Yearwood, is the culmination of a long history with the G.S.U. ever since he publicly spoke out against the unit’s inhumane approach to policing several years ago.
Keith Yearwood, Victim of Police Brutality
“I was on my way to buy at the Chinese grocery store at the corner of Tibruce and Mahogany streets. Upon parking and before I even got out of my car, two GSU vehicles surrounded my car with about between eight and ten officers with guns drawn, pointed at me and my daughter. So I came out with my hands up. When I got out of the car one of the GSU officers tried to wrestle me to the ground, grabbed me by my hair and tried to pull me down to the ground. For what reason I don’t know. So I asked them what is the cause for this stop. He said he wants to know if the effing police can’t stop us. I’m like, the same way you just popped that to me, I want to know why I can’t ask you the question why I am being stopped for. So he started punching me in the rib and to the back of my head. When he asked me who was with me on the passenger side I said it was my fifteen-year-old daughter. So he opened up the door and raised a gun to her and told her to get out of the vehicle. I said, “Officer, she’s a minor. I‘m her father. I just told you she‘s a minor, you don‘t need to pull no gun after her.” He told me to shut the eff up. So after that, my son came across the street to find out what was going on, as any concerned child would do, and one of the police officers told him to get the eff away from here.”

“Did the beating continue thereafter or was the beating immediately after you got out of the vehicle?”
Keith Yearwood
“The beating was, before I even stepped out they pulled me out by my left arm and then that’s when the beating started.”
