Lady Teen Volleyballers Host Regional Championship
The Under-twenty Central American Female Volleyball Championship will be hosted in Belize starting Wednesday. The tournament will see young athletes from across the region participate in a series of grueling competition to determine who will capture the coveted gold medal this year. It is the second time that Belize is accommodating the games and while it cannot direct the schedule, the girls have been given the choice of selecting who they want to take on at the beginning of the challenge. This afternoon, the national team was formally introduced to the media by Allan Sharp of the Belize Volleyball Association.

“We are granted [the opportunity] to choose who we want to play first. We chose Honduras who is coming to win, but that said, every team is coming to win, especially us. The next day we play El Salvador at 12:30 and the night game is against Costa Rica on Friday, and we’re still trying to make an adjustment to the schedule there, but on Friday our only match is at 12:30 against our perpetual rival Guatemala, but we’re trying to move that to the night game. We’re not sure if they’ll allow us and on Saturday, we have two matches, 12:30 against Panama and then the 7:30 against Nicaragua. Again, I think that our team has been preparing since the, I believe the exact day would have been the second of February, [that] was the first practice. But these girls have played before, like I mentioned earlier, on different teams and since the second of February Proffe Delio has been working them very hard. I think they’re very prepared to represent us well at home, and I think with the home crowd the motivation of the home fans I believe that we’ll be doing very well.”
