According to the embassy, one hundred and thirty-three new samples from recent cases of interests have been sent for testing. News Five contacted Director of Health Services, Dr. Michael Pitts, who said that the ministry is maintaining surveillance at health clinics countrywide.
It is known that there are confirmed cases of the flu in five other Caribbean countries including the Bahamas, Cayman, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad. There are also reports of the death of a pregnant seventeen year old girl in Dominican Republic who died after she contracted the virus. The M.O.H. advises the public to continue practicing the necessary precautionary measures for the prevention and control of the virus.
