Ministry Queries G.S.U. Funds but No Investigation
There have been reports that some sixty thousand dollars were unaccounted for from the GSU’s budget. But today Junior Minister Elodio Aragon says that the funds are not missing from the GSU’s information gathering account. He says that what happened was just a routine check to account for the monies, but nothing was taken or misappropriated. He says the check is standard and as a result there is no investigation.
Elodio Aragon Jr., Minister of State, Home Affairs
“I looked into it and I will tell you this, there is no investigation going into any kind of misappropriation of funds; that is where the Ministry of Home Affairs was asking for the information funds. And the information funds is used specifically to gather information. What we can tell you is that there is no investigation on that part to say misappropriation and it is only to say for accountability purposes for the department to know that these monies were used.”

“So, there is no suggestion that the monies were stolen, or taken or unaccounted for; that’s not the case?”
Elodio Aragon Jr.
“No. None whatsoever.”
Reporter
“It is just to verify?”
Elodio Aragon Jr.
“Yeah. Exactly. Because these funds are there and you know I can’t go into details on how these funds are used but the only way the Ministry of Finance was looking into it was for accountability purposes; that was all in that regard.”
