Taiwanese Hail Agricultural Partnership
On Thursday, Doctor Lee headed west to Central Farm where he toured the agriculture and tilapia hatchery facilities headed by the Taiwanese Mission. He shared his reaction to what he saw when taken on a guided a guided tour of the location.
Dr. David Lee, Taiwanese Foreign Minister
“I’m impressed with what I saw yesterday at the Central Farm. I think that’s an accumulation of more than twenty years of joint efforts between our two peoples and I told the project manager, I told him, I said the most important thing is to make sure that those programs will spill over to benefit the average people of this country. I think that’s the most important thing. And also, I told him, when you work on some new projects in the future, be sure that it’s the Government of Belize and that it’s the need of the people of Belize. That’s very important. You know, as we say, you want to touch the people, touch the heart of the people. If you start seeing that the people do not care that much I think it’s not going to be that worthwhile. I think if you want to do something we need to make sure that it’s the need of the people, that it’s the need of the government. I think that’s the principle that I told the project manager and I also told the secretary general because he conducts the daily business, and I said you have to follow what I said to ensure that the project will be mutually beneficial.”
Doctor David Lee, along with his delegation of Taiwanese government officials, left the country this morning, upon completing the media brief.
