Emma Boiton is Back to Fight for Queen of the Bay
The Queen of the Bay controversy dominated social media and local chatter for days. At the centre of it all was Zenaida Moya who performed an epic crowning of Orange Walk’s Esmeralda Cal on stage as Stann Creek’s Aaliyah Ysaguirre was being crowned as the rightful queen. And as you all have heard by now, the two-time former Mayor Moya was fired as the interim national coordinator of the Queen of the Bay committee on national television. Since all of that went down, Moya has maintained that she is still the head of the committee as her services were voluntary and she couldn’t be fired. Well, long time coordinator Emma Boiton has issued a statement of her own. Boiton has served as coordinator for some fifteen years, but she was ailing and Moya took over the committee during her absence. While Boiton doesn’t address the controversy, she says Moya was removed because she was taking the Queen of the Bay in the wrong direction. Here’s an excerpt of that recorded statement issued to the press.
Emma Boiton, National Coordinator, Queen of the Bay
“I do not like what the Queen of the Bay has been brought to. We are not a beauty contest, we are a patriotic event. The Queen of the Bay was made by the L and POB committee as a patriotic gesture against Guatemala. When it was my turn to take it up, I did so wholeheartedly . Since this happened, I don’t take it as a who say, me say, you say. No. I stopped the previous coordinator because she was taking the queen of the bay pageant in the wrong direction. And I will take it up again and steer it into the direction it should go and aiding me are about fifteen to seventeen queens at home and abroad. So, I will not be doing it by myself – they will be helping me. So, anybody who comes and wants to destroy the Queen of the Bay as a patriotic event has a fight coming from me because I will stand up for it. Anybody who was committed to working with me for the Queen of the Bay was counted as a member of the committee. It is not what I wanted to do, it was the rules L and POB set that we followed. Having said that, we, I ask all of your support. Please give the support to us because the Queen of the Bay cannot die.”
Zzzz…boring
Emma Boiton and the L and POB are a group of racist twats.
