Citco’s 12 Days of Christmas Wraps Up at KHMH
We have been reporting on the Belize City Council’s twelve days of Christmas. The Mayor, Councilors and staff have been going across the city spreading cheer – giving gifts, sharing meals and treats and other acts of kindness. They wrapped up the twelve days today with three different activities, including a clean-up campaign and gift giving at schools in the City. We stopped by for the last event at the KHMH’s Pediatric Ward. Sixteen children in the hospital received free snacks, toys, a visit from Santa and some live music. Here’s how that went:
Dion Leslie, Councilor, Belize City Council
“Every year the council embarks to give back through the staff. The staff through each department come up with an idea, a plan, to give back to the community. This is the final day and through the office of the mayor and the hard work of City Administrator, the staff, everyone employed by the office of the Mayor, decided to come to KHMH Pediatric Ward and have some music, gifts for all the children who are here; to bring joy to them while in the hospital. Some may stay past Christmas and some may come out before Christmas but we are still here to spread joy. It is the season of giving and Belize City Council we have become experts in giving back every year. We say a great thank you to our staff because this isn’t just something the City Council pays for – the staff comes up with the ideas, come out of their pockets and put towards making this happen.”
