Family devastated as student Victor Pau, 21, stabbed dead on roadside

Victor Pau

In southern Belize, a twenty-one-year-old student was stabbed and killed in Independence Village. Several men attacked Victor Pau and stabbed him several times on Saturday night. His body was found early on Sunday morning. Police say they are questioning three men in connection with Pau’s killing. His family say they are devastated by his murder because he was an easy going, young member of the church. They say that he was sending himself to school and worked as a security guard in the night-time to pay for his studies. He was set to graduate from sixth form next year. Here’s what his niece had to say when we spoke with her via phone today.

Andrea Polanco

“What do you think the motive is – why would these men attack and kill him? Did they want to rob him or he have any enemies that you don’t know about?”
