Police Detain 2 after Incident

Joseph Myvett

Just now you heard about the tragic killing of Thomas Henry in Roaring Creek Village. He was murdered in the presence of his common-law-wife and their three children. The family in Roaring Creek says the gunmen wanted Orlando Smith and he acknowledges as much. That is their account of the story and today police say that they have detained two persons pending investigation into this homicide.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Shortly after 10:30 p.m. police were called to the residence of one Kimberly Smith in the Another World area of Roaring Creek Village where she reported that shortly before the report was made to the police, shots were being fired within her yard and as a result, she opened the window of her wooden house where she saw two persons; one of whom had a gun in his hand firing inside her yard. As a result, the gunman then turned his attention and weapon towards her house where he fired several shots which penetrated the wall of her wooden house where she received one gunshot injury to the lower back, whilst her common-law husband who was inside the wooden house received one gunshot injury to the left side of his chest. And he was later identified as Thomas Henry, thirty-one-years Belizean of the said address. Henry was taken to the western regional hospital where he apparently succumbed to his injuries on arrival. Yes there was one person in the yard who is related to the victim and as a result of her hearing the shots…and as a result that is when the gunman turned toward her and started firing. Police have since launched intensive investigation and operations in the Roaring Creek area which has resulted in the detention of two persons pending this investigation. The police were following several information after the incident and that is one of the reasons that has led to the two persons who are detained in relation to this investigation.”

In the case of the double murder of the Oh sisters in Punta Gorda, five persons are currently detained pending further investigation into the homicides.
