Weed Busts in Teakettle, San Lazaro
A drug bust in the village of Teakettle in the west, yielded police eight thousand five hundred and three grams of cannabis, the equivalent of eight pounds of the drug. The cannabis was found inside a Toyota car parked on the road side on Thursday afternoon. Police detected a mechanic, twenty-nine-year-old Ernesto Almendarez standing outside the vehicle and twenty-two-year-old Brittany Hutchinson, a student, inside the vehicle. When they searched the car, they found the cannabis wrapped in seven parcels. Almendarez and Hutchinson were both charged with drug trafficking. In a separate bust this time up north, four persons, including a sixty-nine-year-old Guatemalan woman, are facing drug trafficking charges. The group was at a house in the village of San Lazaro, Orange Walk where police conducted a search and found seven hundred and twenty-six grams of marijuana on Thursday morning.
Georgina Ramirez was along with sixty-four-year-old Belizean Humberto Francisco of Belmopan, seventy-seven-year-old Mexican national Rufino Cortez Sanchez and twenty-four-year-old Wilson Flores of the village. All four were promptly charged.
