Health guide makes good Christmas gift

Story Picture
Many of the holiday gifts we’ll be reporting on this season will make you laugh, make you drunk or make you fat. Tonight, however, we’ve got something that just might make you well.

Jacqueline Woods, Reporting

If you are planning on skipping your diet this holiday season, you may not want to read Dr. Bernard Bulwer’s book until well after Christmas. But whenever you decide to go through the pages of the publication, Bulwer promises that you will not look at your favourite foods the same way again. The book challenges the reader to become responsible for his or her own health by changing our eating habits and lifestyles.

Bernard Bulwer, Author

“Realizing that I had patients coming to me week after week, months after months, with the same problem over and over, I had to ask myself a serious question: what am I doing for you? I often tell my patients, I am too old to go through the motions, you’re going to end up wasting your money and my time because at the end of the day, I saw myself as a physician not to have people trap in a disease mode, especially in diseases which we know are caused by the things that people choose to do or choose not to do. And it’s about high time that people had in their hands something which is solid, something which can empower them to look after themselves.”

Bulwer says the book is an appropriate Christmas gift for anyone who has promised to start off the new year healthy and right. Dr. Bulwer wrote the book based on fifteen years of medical practice in Belize. Today, he resides in the United States, but is back home to conduct countrywide lectures on health.

“This afternoon I should be in Orange walk at La Immaculada under the auspices of the authorities there to share with the Orange Walk population, which has a high incident of Diabetes and cardiovascular disease.”

“Tomorrow, I should be in Belize City answering questions on radio. I’ll be going to the lovely southern district of Toledo, where lots of my patients come from, to share with them I think it is a golden oldies night or something like that and I should be talking to that population. I hope to be in Dangriga where I should be having a heart to heart talk to the population down there.”

Dr. Bulwer says the main message of the tour will be on how we can really look after our bodies and get the best out of our lives by preventing most common illness. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.

The book, “Your Doctor Can’t Make You Healthy”, is available at number three Newtown Barracks for forty-nine dollars and fifty cents.
