P.U.P. Issues Condemnation of K.H.M.H. “Neglect”
The People’s United Party this afternoon condemned the Government saying the neglect of the K.H.M.H. is unacceptable. The P.U.P. states that between the period 2008 and 2014, the condition of the roof at the K.H.M.H. had been documented in the minutes of many Board meetings and that the Ministry of Health had been kept apprised of the deterioration. The P.U.P. predicts that the situation will lead to overcrowding at the regional hospitals which are already ill-equipped and that access to emergency healthcare in the Belize District will be practically non-existent. In a parting shot, the P.U.P. notes that while millions of dollars have recently been spent on a basketball court which remains closed, the K.H.M.H. has been neglected to the point of collapse. The party calls on the Government of Belize to immediately inform the country of the true state of the K.H.M.H. and of arrangements made to mitigate the negative impact on the quantity and quality of services being offered to Belizeans through the public health system.
