Teachers to Withhold School Contributions in Payback for Salary Deduction
President of the Belize National Teachers’ Union, Senator Elena Smith, has confirmed to News Five that the ten Union branches this weekend voted to withdraw donations and contributions to those school managements who deduct salaries from teachers that protested against violence in March. It comes amid confirmation that school managers have decided to go ahead and dock a day’s pay, reportedly by order of the Ministry of Education. Between five hundred and seven hundred teachers attended the March twenty-second rally, during the Budget Debate in Belmopan, and according to Smith the B.N.T.U. will not be cowed out of its position. It is unknown how much money school managers will lose as teachers hold back contributions because the percentage of each contribution varies.
Good for you dean barrow. You paid them scholarships almost in full to most teachers yet the ones studying other areas here in Belize you didn’t gave any partial scholarship. So take you lick now. If you had paid us the partial scholarship we would have been more great full. So I am happy that the same persons you assisted now the whip your party.
