D.P.M. Says Show Cause for Firings, or it’s Political Victimization
And today when asked about the recent firings at the Belize City Council, Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber echoed the sentiments of the United Democratic Party’s press release earlier this week. He chalks up the terminations to political victimization. He did say, however, that if there is strong evidence to support why employees were fired then that should be showed or else it may seem just another callous political move.
Patrick Faber, Deputy Prime Minister
“I suspect that that is the case in deed. There is victimization and we ought to condemn that whole scale. The People’s United Party when they won the City Council elections here in Belize City made it very clear that that kind of practice would not happen. We are seeing where they started off toying off with the idea very early and it seem it is a full scale operation. We are told there are more people to come and I always remember that when Mayor Moy and Darrell Bradley took over the City Hall, there were those in the party who though that after the long reign of the P.U.P. certainly there were many employees in there who did not support the administration and so on and that was never an issue. There are employees who are working at the City Hall now for twenty-five to thirty years and those people have stayed there over time. So that is proof positive that the UDP did not engage in that k kind of victimization. If there is good evidence that in fact something is flawed in terms of the awards of these contracts or that these people committed some kind of wrongful act that that would lead to their termination then fine.”
It is collateral damage so said your own very boss
Look who is talking udp has gotten rid of every pup employee since in power.
Political victimization in Belize started with Manuel Esquivel, the godfather of retrenchment, a sneak pagan attack close to xmas in the 90’s. It was perfected by the godson of retrenchment after 2008, and now strongly defended by the chief educator in 2018…what a pity!
It is a fact that 2 negatives makes a positive in arithmetic, it is also a fact that if you turn over the employment boat to rid a party of the politically misaligned: the next party must turn the boat over again to make it upright.
Once these evil acts of retrenchments are repaid, the next government needs to enshrined ” the right to work” in the Constitution, similarly to Hugo Chavez’s, with swift penalties to retrenchers, not to be confused with organization restructurers.
Retrenchers must be shocked and awed, to let them realized that the act is unjustified, vile, not to be endured. Let the punishment leaves an indelible impression on their memories, that they may have something to pass on to their grandchildren, AN ACT NEVER TO BE REPEATED…NEVER.!!!
