In Dangriga, Man Ends Life after Pursuit by Cops

It is our policy not to report on suicides, however, an incident this afternoon in Dangriga has left the community in shock. Maurrice Serrano, identified as the driver for Mayor Francis Humphreys, was reportedly being sought by police pending charges of sexual assault committed on a pair of minors. When the officers caught up with him in the New Site area sometime around three o’clock, Serrano took his own life by shooting himself with a firearm in their presence. The incident was witnessed by a number of persons in the area. We’ll have more on this in Tuesday’s newscast.

The topic of suicide is already a tragic experience for loved ones and to have to hear of a relative’s intentional death on television is even more traumatic.
