Two dead in weekend highway accidents

A woman has lost her life as the result of a freak traffic accident. According to reports on Love FM, Elvira Eck of San Narciso Village was waiting for a bus near mile seventy-two on the Northern Highway when a truck heading toward Corozal Town went out of control and struck a lamppost. The post then fell on Eck, killing her instantly.

Bad driving has also led to the death of a passenger in a vehicle on the Hummingbird Highway. According to police, Nelson Sheppard was killed on Friday night when the pickup truck in which he was riding ran head on into a car on a one lane bridge near mile twenty-five. Following the collision, the pickup ran off the bridge and into the river. The driver and two other passengers in the truck received minor injuries. No one in the car was hurt.
