7 Years Later, Accused Murderers of Richard and Maria Stuart Go On Trial
Almost eight years ago, attorney Richard Stuart and his wife Maria were brutally stabbed to death at their home on Graduate Crescent in West Landivar. The criminal trial against the two men believed to have committed the gruesome double murder was scheduled to commence today before Supreme Court Justice, Colin Williams. However, the trial against Milton Maza and Eli Lopez Avila was adjourned to Thursday due to a countrywide power outage. Compounded with the fact that Maza’s court-appointed attorney Oscar Selgado did not show up today, Justice Williams told the witnesses to return on Thursday. The court appointed Attorney Leeroy Banner to represent Avila. Crown Counsels Rene Montero and Killeru Awich will call twenty witnesses during the trial. The couple was killed on October sixteen 2010. That night, the Stuarts had returned home where they reportedly found the assailants waiting for them on the second floor of the building. At the time of the horrific double murder, Stuarts’ children were at home.
Why so long, could have gone to Mars and back.
