U.S. Senior Advisor Meets with Prime Minister Barrow
The U.S. Senior Advisor for Central America, Todd Robinson, met with Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Foreign Minister Wilfred Elrington on Wednesday to discuss the crisis in Nicaragua, among other regional security issues. Ambassador Robinson’s is on a whirlwind trip of the region seeking support for an O.A.S. resolution that was recently adopted to bring normalcy in Nicaragua where more than a hundred persons have been killed in recent days. In his meeting with the P.M., Ambassador Robinson recognized the role Belize has to play at this time as pro-tempore chair of SICA. The release states, “As a stable democracy with its foot in both Central America and the Caribbean, Belize is in a unique position to exercise principled leadership in the region on Nicaragua and many other issues.”
