Belizean Female Cyclists Do Well in Bermuda
Belizean athletes Taralee Ordonez and Kaylyn Gillett are back in the Jewel after competing regionally in a cycling time trial competition in Bermuda. The young riders performed well, capturing the silver and bronze medals, respectively. Earlier today, we caught up with the cyclists who shared with us their first-time experience competing outside of the country.
Kaylyn Gillett, Belizean Cyclist
“We did a fifty kilometer race, it was thirty to thirty-one miles and it was pretty rough and I managed to take third place, bronze, as you guys can see. But in other words, I did enjoy the trip, get to meet new people and it was good.”

“Just the experience in terms of the ride compared to here in Belize and all of that. The course is different, everything is different. The course was very rough for the event.
Taralee Ordonez, Belizean Cyclist
“It was a great experience because some of those girls are very strong. It was only five of us, some of them were very small, you know, skinny, but they can‘t intimidate no one cause everybody has their strength and everything.”
