Cancer walk takes place Saturday
This Saturday is the day for the annual Cancer Walk from Ladyville to Belize City. The activity, which is the Belize Cancer Society’s major fund raising event, also helps to raise community awareness about the disease and what is being done to assist cancer patients and their families. The Society’s President, Higinia Leslie, says since the activity started in 1997, they have been encouraged by the community’s support.

“Every year we noticed that we have the participation of the community increasing.”

“And this year just how many people are expected to take that walk?”
Higinia Leslie
“Based on the amount of T-shirts that has been ordered, we have so far ordered one thousand, six hundred T-shirts, approximately. The walk will commence from Ladyville at Celina’s. We asked all participants to assemble at the bus stop at Pallotti junction. The buses will be leaving at 4:30 sharp to commence the walk in Ladyville at 5:00 a.m. sharp. The walk will end at the Juliet Orosco Soberanis Hospice Cancer Centre, which is located on Mercy Lane.”
The money raised from T-shirt sales and donations will go towards the construction of that hospice facility.
