Re-registration Cut Off Date is September 30th

The cut-off date for re-registration is on Sunday, September thirtieth. According to Chief Elections Officer, Josephine Tamai, although the re-registration centres have been closed due to the resumption of classes, those wanting to take part in the mass re-registration exercise can visit the Elections and Boundaries offices between the hours of eight o’clock in the morning to five o’clock in the evening from Monday to Saturday. The first re-registration list of electors is expected to be published on October twenty-fifth. When the list is published, anyone who would want to object to any name on the list will be able to do so within fourteen days. The matter will then be revised by the courts which will decide whether or not the applicant met all criteria necessary to successfully register.  It will be the responsibility of the person who objected to prove that the applicant did not. Tamai told News Five that the department does not expect any objections because they conducted thorough investigations when determining eligibility. Likewise, any applicant who does not make the list will be able to appeal and prove their case to the courts that they met all the requirements. After this, normal registration will continue with monthly supplementary lists being added to the register.
