NICH Prez to be Reinstated; Internal Auditor Terminated
The Deputy Prime Minister Patrick Faber will be holding a press conference on Thursday where he will be asked about the situation at the National Institute of Culture and History. Its president, Sapna Budhrani, has been on administrative leave as ordered by cabinet pending the results of an external audit by Baker Tilly Hulse following the release of an internal audit which found discrepancies in finances at the statutory body. Now we are told that a meeting of the NICH Board took place today in Belize City and made two decisions which are yet to be confirmed. The first is that Budhrani be reinstated and the second is that the internal auditor, Roberto Matus be fired. Matus was the one who sounded the alarm about fuel consumption, vehicle usage, and finances. Faber is also expected to answer on two other audits at the Offices of the National Sports Council and the Music Ambassador.
Something is starting to smell bad.
