Faber Sanctioned Audit at Sports Council; Results Pending
There is also an ongoing audit at the National Sports Council. While it comes on the heels of the NICH external audit ordered by cabinet, Deputy PM Patrick Faber says that the two are separate and unrelated. In fact, he says the sports audit was sanctioned by his ministry to ensure that nothing is wrong with the finances.
Patrick Faber, Minister of Sports
“As it relates to the Sports Council, yes there is an audit sanctioned by the minister and the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture. It is not abnormal for us to do that. And these things, you know what the problem is that when we do these kinds of audits just to make sure that everything is okay and is the case when the Auditor General looks at your books, they are not privy to everything and so they have to write up how things appear to them. It does not mean, as is clearly the case with Mister Matus—this might be not a very good example to use because as the external auditor has now said, his practices are bad, but not all internal auditors use bad practice. They might be genuinely going about their business of trying to see if something is wrong and everything might not be clear to them in that instance that they are looking at things. And it is up to those who are in authority to answer questions that the internal audit may find. So it is not abnormal, but when you cherry pick things out of it and you expose it to the public and you try to create the impression that something is going wrong. It is not to say that something is not going, but let us reach to that point before we jump to conclusions and cast aspersions please.”
Biggest criminal ever, he should be put on audit..the big cartel.
