Taiwan Appoints New Ambassador to Belize
The Republic of China (Taiwan) has appointed a new ambassador to Belize. He is Remus Chen and his new post was announced early this week by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Chen is scheduled to assume his new position in November and will replace current Ambassador, Charles Liu who has served as ambassador since 2016. According to the Taiwanese press, Chen has served as the deputy representative to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States from 2016 to 2017. He later was appointed as director-general of the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Department of North America. Taiwan has enjoyed an excellent relationship with Belize which is one of its few remaining allies that recognize its sovereignty.
