Latest test results show Belize still free from Influenza A (H1N1)
There is good news for Belize on the Influenza A (H1N1) that has put the world on edge. News Five was told by the Ministry of Health today, that the results of the last three samples that were sent to CAREC on Friday have come back and they are negative. This means that all forty samples tested so far have been free of the viral strain. The ministry also informed us that there are no other cases of interests in medical facilities throughout the country. According to the Ministry of Health, the twenty-one member countries of CAREC have also tested negative for the virus. But caution is still advised and traveling to neighboring Mexico is still not recommended. And in an update from Mexico, there are over two thousand known confirmed cases: eleven of which are in Quintana Roo and seventeen in Yucatan. The confirmed cases in the U.S. are now over two thousand five hundred and there is word today that Cuba now has a confirmed case of the virus.
