SICA Meets in Belize
In June of this year, Belize assumed the Presidency Pro Tempore of the Central American Integrated System (SICA) for a six month period during which time two meetings are held. And so today, the Central American countries and the Dominican Republic are meeting in Belize to discuss developments in tourism, security, climate change and other tourism-related matters. Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia shared more about some of the big matters being discussed, including a project that aims to assist small businesses.
Manuel Heredia Jr., Minister of Tourism
“There is the digital marketing that we are starting to promote throughout the entire Central American Region whereby both the private sector and the public sector are being trained in this digital marketing which will make us much more effective in our marketing throughout the region. Secondly we are very extra fortunate to have the representative of CABIE today with us to launch this project which will give assistance to the small and medium enterprise like that. It is something that as Minister of Tourism I believe that in Belize and elsewhere we need to have out technical people trained, have our small and medium entrepreneurs trained. This project will give all those things to the entire region of Central America. The main reason is to assist the small and medium entrepreneurs. That is the main objective in that and I believe that if we do that they will be able to uplift themselves and their business with assistance fifteen thousand US dollars and grace period of between one year and one and a half year. So it is a very interesting and something very good for the region. It is something very good for Belize.”
