“I am aware that you have been planning this event for some time now and we have to thank the National Kriol Council, the National Garifuna Council, the Caribbean and Central American Black Organization and of course the secretariat of SICA.  Sometimes we tend to think that the people of African descendants are a minority in the world.  The truth is that Africans are the second largest population in the world.  It’s over one point three billion Africans who live in Africa and we are not talking about people of Afro-descendants in Brazil which has more than Nairobi, Kenya and the rest of us who exist in the Americas in general, so that people of African descendants are a numerous people and we have had an exceedingly proud tradition.  Even today, people are African descendants have held the highest post in the most powerful country in the world.”

Belize will hand over pro temp presidency of SICA to Guatemala in December.
