Pomona Man Charged for the Murder of Marta Gonzalez
Pomona resident, twenty-one-year-old Christopher Albert Bradley was charged on Wednesday for the murder of sixty-eight-year-old Marta Gonzalez. Bradley is accused of fatally stabbing Gonzalez on the chest and dumping her body in his backyard. Her body was discovered in a pit latrine inside the yard in Pomona Village on Tuesday. Investigators also found some of her items on the property and inside the house. It is believed that Bradley acted alone and the motive is robbery. Gonzalez, who is from San Felipe Village in the Orange Walk District, traveled for many years to Dangriga and the surrounding villages to sell cheese, tamales and clothing. She was last seen alive on Friday afternoon at around three o’clock by one of her friends. She had left that friend’s house to collect from a villager, but she never returned. Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett provided additional details.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Intensive police investigation has led to the detention of Christopher Albert Bradley twenty one year old laborer of Pomona Village which later resulted in him being arrested and charged for the crime of murder. So far from the information gather seem to suggest that the motive was robbery.”

“Sir the items found in the residence, can you say what those items were?
ACP Joseph Myvett
“I will not say the items found in the residence but those found outside of the residence were the bucket belonging to the decease and her little cart that she used to carry her bucket. Apparently there was some dispute or there was some conversation previous to the incident”
Hipolito Novelo
“Sir the family says that Ms. Gonzalez did not have her earrings, jewelry on her, was that recovered from the scene?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“I will say that at least one piece of jewelry believe to have belonged to the deceased was recovered and that is a part of the case.”
Hipolito Novelo
“Sir are you able to say whether or not Ms Gonzalez died before she was dumped in that pit latrine?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“No I would not be able to say that.”
Hipolito Novelo
“Do investigators believe that Mr. Bradley acted alone?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes, at this time.”
Hipolito Novelo
“Has a murder weapon been recovered? Or what was used to stab her?”
ACP Joseph Myevtt
“Well one weapon was recovered but we have not yet been able to ascertain whether or not that was the murder weapon as tests would have to be done on that weapon in order to confirm that that was indeed the weapon.”
Gonzalez had been travelling to Dangriga to sell since 1998.
