Who is Funding Assad Shoman’s N.G.O.? Shoman Avoids Question
Many questions have been asked relating to Assad Shoman’s recently formed non-governmental organization. Citizens for the Defense of Sovereignty was formed less than three months ago and its primary objective is to ‘promote the sovereignty of peoples and the struggle for freedom, justice, and equality.’ In fact, the most urgent object of the movement today is, (Quote) “to promote education and information about the history of Guatemala’s Claim to Belize and to take all necessary measures to bring it to an end with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Belize.” (Unquote) The N.G.O. works with government in pushing a YES vote. Naturally, one of the questions on everyone’s mind is who is funding the N.G.O.? During the B.N.T.U.’s I.C.J. forum today, Shoman was asked the question directly but he avoided truly answering the question.
Audrey Matura, Attorney
“I want him to answer the question who is funding his N.G.O. that is the proponent of the YES campaign. I cannot go without finding out that answer my dear friend. Where are you getting you money from for your YES campaign?”
Teacher
“You are running a YES campaign and you are in the N.G.O. May I ask who is funding your campaign?”
Assad Shoman, Citizens for the Defence of Sovereignty
“Yes you may ask.”
Teacher
“I just did.”
Assad Shoman
“We have a lot of funders you know. Some of them are hidden, some of them are open. I have just decided that we are going to have a special press conference tomorrow evening. I’ll try for about five p.m. or so where I will ask Miss Matura to ask as a sort of accountant. We will have…we are having the press conference tomorrow. We want ourselves, the People’s United Party, the B.P.P., the V.I.P. to be there and all of us together will at the Radisson face the press and the people and declare our resources.”
Teacher
“So tomorrow we are going to find out the answer to the question.”
Assad Shoman
“If the others agree. We are planning that.”
Teacher
“Some of us won’t be there. I know for a fact, I won’t be able to make it. I am asking the question now, are you able to answer now?”
Assad Shoman
“It will be answered at the press conference tomorrow.”
Teacher
“Okay that says a lot. I just wanted to put that out there. Final question, I am not sure and I want to state that I am not satisfied with your answer. When we come to these things we are expecting answers here and with all due respect I would have appreciated an answer right now.”
Assad Shoman
“And what does that have to do with…”
Teacher
“I am moving on.”
Assad Shoman
“And what does that have to do with…”
Teacher
“I am moving on Sir because I have a short time.”
Assad Shoman
“And what does that have to do with your decision to vote yes or no to the I.C.J.?”
Teacher
“Sir my main idea was found on the question that you refuse to answer which is what many politicians do. They don’t answer the questions up front.”
Beware, another sellout
