Dangrigans to protest Southern Regional

In August, the actions of officials of the Southern Regional Hospital were called into question when it was revealed that a baby’s corpse had been left in the hospital’s morgue for ten months. Tomorrow, hospital administrators will be in the hot seat again. News 5 has learned that a number of Dangrigans will be holding a peaceful demonstration against the hospital, protesting the level of health care being given at the institution. The protest is being organised by Dangriga’s Adhoc Committee for the Welfare of Dangrigans. In a press release, the committee says since the first report regarding the corpse of the baby left in the hospital’s morgue, they have been monitoring activities at the hospital. They say they have a list of complaints. Among them, are allegations that just eight days ago, the hospital cremated a dead baby without the consent of its parents and that the institution has been distributing expired medication to its patients. The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and will start from the Havana Bridge in town and then make its way to the hospital. When News 5 contacted Southern Regional to get a response to these allegations and the planned protest, we were informed that the two persons who can comment on the matter were both unavailable.
