CARAIFA Holds its Annual General Meeting in Belize
The Caribbean Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors is an umbrella organization whose members are engaged in the sale of life insurance and financial services. CARAIFA rotates its annual general meeting at member countries and this year it is being held at the ITVET compound in Belize City. The AGM has representation from most CARICOM countries who are member of CARAIFA. News Five spoke with President Alicia Birch and Secretary General Marcelle Fenton on the goal to satisfy the needs of customers across the region.
Marcelle Fenton, Secretary General, CARAIFA
“Our main task as insurance practitioners to provide food, shelter and clothing when the main breadwinner transitions because too many families fail to provide after that happens. So that’s our main focus and our main story throughout the Caribbean. So what we do here when we come to whichever territories once a year, we educate; we make sure our people are trained because we have the FSCP programme in the Caribbean, we have the LUTCF, the FSS…we train career agents so that when they sit before a client, come up with the exact need that that client needs if, God forbid, their breadwinner had died the night before. So we ensure that what is to happen, happens with families.”
Alicia Birch, President, CARAIFA
“This is where we come together as an association with members from different territories to speak to financial advisors across the region. Our intent is to ensure that most of the Caribbean countries understand who are our members, the citizenry of the country; that we will give them the service that is second to none.”
