Beware of Illegal Peddling of Medicines
The Ministry of Health is warning the public to be cautious of medicines which are not officially recognized and registered by the ministry. Several brands and types of these medicines which are being sold to the public pose a health risk. In a press statement, the ministry says that two recent inspections resulted in the identification and subsequent confiscation of these types of products and other related supplies from peddlers and street vendors. The peddling of unregistered medicines is illegal. These medicines are a health risk because they may be falsified and substandard. For safety reasons, the ministry is advising the public to buy medicines only at pharmacies that have registered pharmacists providing service to the community.
