Minister of Health meets with doctors
Doctors from the Northern Regional Hospital will resume normal duties as of Monday, September third. At a meeting today in Orange Walk between Minister of Health Jose Coye and the physicians at the Cane Farmer’s Association Conference Room, it was agreed that the group would “embark on a process of negotiations” starting Monday. According to a joint press release, the process consists of a series of meetings between the two parties, aimed specifically at resolving outstanding issues such as the improvement of working conditions, supply of medications and equipment, duty free vehicles, overtime and Social Security payments. Acting as observer at the discussions will be Dr. Robert Coye, President of the Belize Medical and Dental Association.
