Pablo Marin: “What has Mayor Bernard Wagner Done to Improve Health?”

So, did Mayor Bernard Wagner jump the gun? Minister Pablo Marin says that he will honour his commitment and provide a second set of exercise machines to Belize City. But Marin went a step further and asked what Mayor Wagner has done to improve health and wellness in the city.

“Just last week, I had a majority of the N.G.O.s and ministries in charge of how we can combat NCDs and obesity because a lot of our kids are not playing anymore and are on their internet or their games. So we are trying to do that. Now a question to the mayor of Belize City, what have he done from that day to promote a healthy lifestyle. So is he just waiting for me to deliver an equipment that I can designate to who I give? And furthermore, I will deliver another one to Belize City, but at the moment, I saw the need at Marion Jones instead of giving to him. And every municipality except…well I can say every municipality now will have because Marion Jones is going to have.  Kevin Bernard—I spoke to him—he is going to get his one tomorrow. So every municipality that I had promised has received their one. Now have they done anything to improve the health of the people in Belize?”
