Team Belize Doing Great at the U-23 Female Volleyball Central American Championships

The female volleyball national team has been competing in the under-twenty-three Central American Championships in Managua, Nicaragua. They have since won three games and lost one. On Wednesday, the girls faced off against the Panamanian team and won all three sets. It was the second win for the team since the tournament began earlier this week. In that game, Belize’s captain, Sherika Burton, led her team with thirteen points, eight of them in attacks and three in service. Meanwhile, Melanie Palacio got eleven; five in blocking and six in attacks.  On Thursday afternoon, team Belize went up against Costa Rica’s team and unfortunately lost that matchup.  Costa Rica lost the first set to Belize, but won the next three during the first game of the fifth day. Costa Rica was better in attack and in service, the blocking was equal, but Belize gave thirty-four points in errors, and nineteen by Costa Rica. This afternoon, Belize won against Guatemala. It lost the first round to the neighbouring team, but came back to win three other rounds with a nail-biting finish in the last round. At two-thirty p.m. on Saturday, the national team goes up against El Salvador’s team. José Fontes is Belize’s coach.
