Europe Embraced the Garifuna Collective
Band members, Sam Harris and Marcela Aranda, also spoke to News Five to share their experience on the European leg of their 2019 tour. In June, the band made appearances at festivals and shows in Switzerland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Germany and the U.K. Harris and Aranda say that the crowds embraced the Garifuna Collective and their concerts were a success.
Sam Harris, Guitarist, Garifuna Collective
“It was a fairly decent tour. It’s the first leg of it. The response from the crowd was really genuine. Some of the guys would tell you that even the last few days there were tremendous cheers. I could recall walking off the stage and hearing people singing and chanting and when we were in the vehicle we could still hear them there for fifteen minutes singing. They don’t know what they were saying but they had a good time. So, we are hopeful that we are halfway rested, mien, because it is not gonna be correct but we are dedicated to make sure that it works.”
Marcela Aranda, Garifuna Collective
“I want everybody to know that they liked the music that we do; especially Mungulu; Mala Mujer…everybody nuh wah let we go on our turn when we performing. [Singing] Everybody love that!”
