An Update on the Southern Regional Morgue

In April, the People United Party fired off a release stating that the country should be appalled and outraged over the malfunctioning morgue at the Southern Regional Hospital.  On Friday, August second, residents down south were notified that the morgue was once again down.  It’s a grave concern for Dangriga residents and those residing in the buffer communities.  Earlier this week, the Director of Health Services, Doctor Marvin Manzanero said the plan is to procure some cold storage units by August fifteenth.  But today, Minister of Health Pablo Marin provided a different timeframe saying that the ministry is working on addressing the problem sooner rather than later.

“It will take about sixty days if I am not mistaking and it should be coming in I think next Thursday or Friday the fifteenth, I think they mentioned to me. But it is already there. We already bought the morgue and not only for the Western region but also for the southern region. We already bought two of them. The situation is that and I was mad at it because the person the person who put that sticker on the glass should have also mentioned that we are doing things if any persons has a death in the family we can transport. We were paying for transportation to go to PG or to send it to Belmopan. So there was something in place to be done.”
