Belizean Traveller Campaign a Success So Far

As mentioned before, the expo is part of the Belizean Traveller campaign that was launched in August. During that launch, social media influencer Marilyn Vansen was presented as part of the campaign.  In other words, Vansen was hired to travel the country and publish her tours on social media, a strategy employed by the B.T.B. to promote local tourism in Belize.  Today, Marketing and public relations manager at B.T.B., Jocelle Stephens said that has been a success.  This year, the B.T.B. has focused on its use of the digital platform for marketing.

“Marilyn has visited the western region of the country and she enjoyed some chocolate making tours. She enjoyed the destination, she enjoyed the cuisine. So far, and this is just the first part of her journey because she is still scheduled to do the southeast coast of the country where she will do some snorkelling as well and some beach and marine life. She will enjoy. But just from the first part of her journey she did eighty-six posts so far on Facebook and Instagram and what we have seen is over three hundred percent ROI on the investment we have made on Marilyn. She has earned a media value of thirty thousand Belize dollars in just eighty six posts and her reach so far has been over has been thirty-nine thousand, her engagement so far has been over five thousand. And so we are pretty pleased with this because it is amplifying the message for us that you can be a Belizean traveller, that you can enjoy this beautiful jewel.”

Following a launch of three promotional videos on social media, the B.T.B. officials say it has doubled its following. The B.T.B. has also been engaging the public in several trivia, and video and poster competitions.
