“My Position is Grassroots” – Geovanni Brackett
So what informs Brackett’s decision to come out against the Ministry of Health which regulates and oversees the procurement and retail of pharmaceuticals across the country? While it can be written off that the firebrand is batting in favour of big pharma, he says that it’s all about freedom of choice and the ability for the grassroots population to have access to quality medication.
Geovanni Brackett, Activist/Journalist
“My position here is grassroots, it’s the fact that I am a diabetic and I am here. You just said that you don’t use medication, so are you to tell me where I am to supposed to get my medication? Who on God’s green earth are you to tell me what the hell I am supposed to use because maybe you would want me to use substandard regional products that might be okay for you, but it’s not okay for me. I want the option. Correction, you probably didn’t hear me properly, I am not fighting for solely first-world product but I am fighting for name brand products that have been working for centuries, working for years, products that are cheaper, that have far better requirements and have gone through the fire and been tested, not to give me some inferior product. And there is nothing switch and rich about that and there is everything about the grassroots about wanting the best medication.”
