New psychiatric ward for Belmopan Hospital
A new facility for the mentally ill has been opened at the Belmopan Hospital. The acute psychiatric ward was officially dedicated on Thursday by Minister of Health Jose Coye. Built at a cost of eighty thousand dollars, the ward will be home to those patients who pose a threat to themselves and those trying to treat them. In his address Coye urged Belizeans not to stigmatize those people suffering from mental illness, a condition which cuts across all classes, races and ages.
