P.U.P. on Sarteneja Link Road
Work for a twenty-seven-mile stretch of road linking Corozal Town to Sarteneja started last week following the inauguration of the fifty-million-U.S.-dollar project. The major infrastructure project is being funded by the government of Taiwan through a loan to the government. While the Area Representative Florencio Marin Junior was not at the launch last week, there has been a meeting between the Northern Caucus of the People’s United Party and the Overseas Engineering and Construction Company Limited. Representing O.E.C.C. were Vice President James Hsaiao, Project Manager Pablo Shih, and General Manager Assistant Jason Lin as well as David Wu from the Taiwanese Embassy. According to a release, O.E.C.C. officials assured that they will be hiring locals to work on the project and the P.U.P. received assurances that the entire project will be free of political inference. Details of the upgrading of the Corozal-Sarteneja Road, which is expected to be completed in fifty-four months, were also presented at the meeting.
