“Many times the public doesn’t recognize the signs of gender based violence or overlook victims’ cries for help. Therefore, it is valuable as it is to raise awareness in the fight against gender based violence and action, such as this, highlights the importance of reporting violent crimes and reminds us that we must listen to victims when they speak out. Having these signs in strategic locations; like the borders, school offices, terminals and supermarkets, will remind Belizeans and all to ensure that they listen to victims and give access to important hotline numbers to safeguard the safety of victims. Like you rightly said, it might be that only moment that someone might have to make that call that could save their lives.”
