Caribbean S.B.D.C.s Network is Launched
Belize, along with other CARICOM member states, has signed a memorandum, launching the Caribbean Small Business Development network. Penning the memo on behalf of the government was Minister of State for Investment, Trade, and Commerce, Tracy Taegar-Panton. Panton says that the newly formalized network of Caribbean S.B.D.C. programmes will be linked with each other to share practices and also to connect their clients with multilateral international trade opportunities. The network will further expand the work of BELTRAIDE’s Small Business Development Center with the aim to positively influence the economy and stimulate growth.

“As you may be aware small businesses are really at the heart of the economies in CARICOM and so it is important that we provide the requisite support, best practices and opportunities to network where opportunities may lie not only in Belize but in other territories. Since the SBDC centre was instituted at BELTRAIDE seven years ago we have trained over a thousand clients who are part of our own small business network. Those clients account for capital investment of about ten point two million Belize dollars. Small in size but certainly big in terms of contributions they make to the national economy.”
