MOH Says Case of COVID-19 in Dangriga is Fake News!
The Ministry of Health says that the reports circulating on Facebook about a suspected case of COVID-19 in Belize is not true. Today, the ministry clarified the rumors of a suspected case of the virus in Dangriga. It says, “Belize remains free of any case of COVID-19 and there is no suspected case at this time in the country.” In the release, the ministry noted that three Belizeans were investigated based on specific epidemiological information gathered upon re-entry into Belize and they are being checked on by the Health Department daily. One of the individuals was swabbed and the laboratory test was positive for a specific strain of the common flu viruses that is currently in circulation in Belize. The ministry reiterates that all investigations are being followed and monitored for up to fourteen days before they are cleared from the surveillance system.
