Cruise Lines Suspend Calls to Port Until May
There is no definitive period to say when the COVID-19 pandemic will be over, but most people agree that it will take months for economic activity to normalize. In the meantime, the COVID-19 contagion continues all over the world. Spain today reported the highest number of deaths in one day and the number of cases in the U.S. is still spiralling. As you know, U.S. visitors account for the biggest numbers in the tourism industry here. Today, the major cruise lines pushed back their dates to resume sailings. According to the B.T.B., cruises on Carnival Cruise Line are suspended until May eleventh, 2020; Norwegian Cruise Line to the second week of May 2020. MSC Cruises have been suspended until May twenty-ninth, 2020 and Royal Caribbean Cruises to May twelfth. So we won’t be seeing cruise ships on the port before May.
