More Testing Kits a Cometh

Marvin Manzanero

Since the Ministry of Health began screening and testing exercises in detection of COVID-19, a total of six hundred tests have been conducted.  That was out of a diminishing number of kits that were available locally.  While additional kits will be procured from the Cayman Islands, Director of Health Services Doctor Marvin Manzanero reported earlier today that another eleven thousand, five hundred kits would be arriving in country by day’s end.

“So where are we at the moment in terms of procurement of test kits and where are we insofar as the number of test that have been conducted using what we have in stock?”

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“We are almost at six hundred tests conducted.  In one day, recall that we did up to a hundred and two and on Friday and Saturday we actually went to three different batches trying to get close contacts, healthcare workers of patient number ten.  As I understand it there will be arrival of further testing kits today with the Amerijet flight.  So at the end of the day they should be able to tell you how many testing kits we have.  We did get a note from PAHO that they were in the process of procuring eleven thousand, five hundred individual tests for us to use in Belize.”
