Belize Medical and Dental Assoc. hosts congress
On Thursday night Minister of Health Jose Coye officially opened the Belize Medical and Dental Association’s eighteenth annual congress. The meeting takes place at the Princess Hotel in Belize City and provides a forum where health care professionals and the public can keep abreast of new developments in the medical field.
Dr. Greg Arana, Secretary Belize Medical and Dental Assoc.
“We’ll have an infertility specialist, who will be talking about some of the problems couples face in fertility. We’ll have a doctor presenting on rectal bleeding, Dr. Rogers from Karl Heusner is presenting on the incidence of accidental ingestion, poisoning in children. We have nutrition, and tomorrow we’ll have a diabetes specialist Dr. Arriaga as well as representatives presenting on the importance of diabetes education for example. Diabetes is so prevalent in our society with all the complications, so all these things are very relevant, very key topics.”
“We would like all participants to take away friendships, but most importantly new ideas. An awareness of what new drugs are out there to treat different conditions and just a general insight into the new development in medicine.”
The two-day event is being held under the theme “Improving health care through continued medical education.” It ends October twenty-eighth.
